Just the tumblr of a random guy named Draco who says random things at random times. A lover of Pokemon, the Legend of Zelda, Xenoblade, and more. Be warned, occasionally I may put out walls of text. Usually about Pokemon.

I normally don’t do things like this but this has been coming up a lot lately, and it’s really been bothering me. It’s all too common for someone to react with hostility or blow things out of proportion when someone doesn’t like a certain thing that they do. To an extent it’s understandable, given people do tend to want to defend things they are passionate about.
However, at the same time, “I don’t like it”, “I dislike it”, and “I hate it” are not the same thing. You can not like something without disliking it. This is especially true of things people haven’t experienced; games they haven’t played, shows they haven’t watched, music they haven’t listened to… people won’t say they like them, because they tend to be indifferent.
If someone doesn’t like something, you’re more than welcome to ask them why, or even discuss it with them. Heck, you may even be able to pique their interest in the thing! However, if they don’t like something, and aren’t interested, don’t push the subject. And definitely don’t react with hostility if someone doesn’t like something; it’s not going to help and in all honesty will probably negatively influence their view of the thing. Plus, at the end of the day, even if they do dislike it or hate it… does it really detract from your experience in any way?
…tl;dr - If someone doesn’t like something you do, just accept it at face value; don’t respond with hostility. It doesn’t mean they dislike you, and they don’t always outright dislike the thing.
